An atrocious city public school where controversial New York Times scribe Nikole Hannah-Jones sent her daughter as a “sacrifice’’ was so dangerous it was known as “Little Riker’s Island,’’ according to parents.
Ridiculously lagging PS 307 in Brooklyn was rife with severe academic challenges that were only exacerbated by rampant safety concerns involving bullying and teacher assaults, charged a change.org petition in 2023.
“The school’s safety has deteriorated to a point where PS307 is known as ‘Little Riker’s Island,’ ’’ said the furious online petition demanding the resignations of the then-principal and her assistant principal — while referring to the city jail so notoriously dangerous that it is being closed down.
This woman continues to be a real piece of work, putting activism over her own kid's education and well-being by enrolling her in an under-performing NYC public school in hopes of challenging their unequal education system. Indeed, Nikole Hannah-Jones’s experience with NYC schools should've prompted criticisms of teacher unions and the city’s education negligent bureaucracy, but instead she remains focused on racial ideology. Good thing her daughter spoke out because parents who are really concerned about poor schools, inadequate homework, or chaotic classrooms would normally be motivated by their responsibility to secure the best education for their children, rather than woke activism that only hinders their ability to learn and be productive members of society.
