Luigi Mangione Admits to Shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO as He Pleads Guilty in Federal Case

ABCNews.com:

Luigi Mangione admitted to shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson as he pleaded guilty Friday to two federal stalking counts, marking a dramatic turn of events in the high-profile killing.

Thompson's family spoke out in a rare statement Friday, calling the plea an "important step toward justice," as Mangione's attorneys filed a motion to dismiss the charges he's facing in state court under New York's double jeopardy law.

In the federal courtroom Friday, Mangione outlined his crime, saying, "After years of enduring severe pain from a broken back ... I learned that UnitedHealthcare would be holding its annual investor conference in New York City." Mangione said he learned the exact location of UnitedHealthcare's conference by emailing the company, posing as an investor with more than $50 billion in capital.

After pleading guilty, the sentence for Mangione here should be easy: life in prison without the possibility of parole. But of course, with our wayward criminal justice system, you never know what might happen. That said, at least Brian Thompson's family wil receive some quick justice and won't have to endure being put through a long and stressful trial. And while Mangione's sick white, liberal fangirls around the country will undoubtedly express their dismay at Mangione receiving any prison time at all (yunno, in the name of 'karma') hopefully over time Thompson's family will be able eo heal.

NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani Pushes Tax Hikes, Including One Targeting Black Homeowners

NYPost.com:

Zo him the money! Socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani is hatching plans for months-long pressure campaign demanding a sweeping slate of state tax hikes — along with a renewed push to slap new levies on already burdened city property owners, The Post has learned.

The full-speed-ahead tax push will kick off with a rally after Labor Day to apply maximum pressure ahead of the 2027 state legislative session and just as Gov. Kathy Hochul re-election campaign enters its final stretch, according to sources with knowledge of City Hall’s battle plans.

The sources revealed Mamdani and his minions want Albany to deliver “tax the rich” wins on day one of the next legislative session, with their still-in-the works demands including a hike on the wealthy and an expanded corporate taxes.

To be clear, Mamdani's going to tax people with a 2nd home worth over $5M. Yet, 2nd homewoensr already pay their fair share of taxes, so this new policy coul drive out of NY to be potentially replaced by NGO's with connections to Mamdani.

Trump Deranged George Conway Loses N.Y. Congressional Primary, Finishing Fifth in Crowded Field

WashingtonTimes.com:

Attorney George Conway, a co-founder of the Lincoln Project and one of the country’s most prominent critics of President Trump, lost his bid for a Manhattan congressional seat Tuesday, finishing fifth in a Democratic primary that saw New York Assemblyman Micah Lasher emerge as the front-runner to succeed retiring Rep. Jerry Nadler.

With 94% of scanners reporting, Mr. Lasher led the eight-candidate field with 39% of the vote, followed by fellow Assemblyman Alex Bores at 35%, Jack Schlossberg at about 11% and Nina Schwalbe at about 7%. Mr. Conway drew roughly 6% of the vote, landing in fifth place.

The Associated Press called the race at 10:08 p.m. Mr. Lasher, who had been endorsed by the outgoing Mr. Nadler, will be the Democratic nominee when voters from Chelsea to the Upper West and Upper East Sides choose a new congressional representative in November.

To think, Conway spent $6M on his campaign and got 6,177 votes in return. Indeeed, he really thought his one-note, vile TDS would win him a seat in Congress, in a Democrat party Conway just joined out of spite for Trump. Because as he displayed in the primary debate the other day, Conway knew little about policies and frankly speaking didn't care to learn about them. TDS aside tho, I'm convinced that Conway will never get over Trump reneging on giving him the Solicitor General job back in 2017--a job that if everything had went well might've led to a Supreme Court nomination for Conway later on down the road. Nonetheless, despite his humiliating loss, going forward Conway will still be a staple on MSNOW, Bluesky and any anti-Trump, Resistance podcast needing an online darling of the Left to spew nothing but hate on the President.

Zohran Mamdani Lies About Erasing NYC's Budget Deficit

ABC7NY.com:

Facing deficits exceeding $12 billion, among the largest since the Great Recession, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced on Tuesday that his administration had balanced the budget thanks to a combination of state support, new revenue, and belt-tightening.

Mamdani positioned the first budget of his administration, $124.7 billion for Fiscal Year 2027, as a major shift away from austerity while maintaining fiscal stability.

The plan closes significant budget gaps without raising property taxes, cutting services, or tapping into reserve funds - moves the administration says protect working-class New Yorkers.

Zohran Mamdani “eliminating” a $12 billion budget deficit in New York City is an outright lie. New York City has been legally required to pass balanced budgets every year since the 1975 Financial Emergency Act, meaning every mayor from Rudy Giuliani to Bill de Blasio and Eric Adams also 'balanced budgets'. Indeed, Adams left a projected FY27 gap of about $4.69 billion, while Mamdani’s team added roughly $8 billion in previously underreported expenses, including shelter operations, rental assistance, special education reimbursements, and NYPD overtime — then labeled the total as an inherited deficit. This “solution” came from temporary state aid provided by Kathy Hochul, rather than long-term fiscal reform, making the fix unsustainable.

Suspect in New York City Subway Shove Death was Released from Psych Hold Hours Before

ABC7NY.com:

The man charged with murder in the fatal shoving of a 76-year-old man at a Chelsea subway station was released from psychiatric hold mere hours earlier, police say.

Police say their suspect, 32-year-old Rhamell Burke, came up behind the victim, 76-year-old Ross Falzone, and pushed him down the 18th Street station stairs just after 9:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Officers found Falzone unconscious and unresponsive. Officials say he suffered a traumatic brain injury, a fractured spine and a fractured rib and was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital just before 3 a.m. on Friday. Police say the shoving appeared to be unprovoked, and the death is being investigated as a homicide.

Unbelieveable. But the death of 76-year-old retired teacher Ross Falzone is yet another grim example of what happens when soft-on-crime policies, ideological naïveté, and misplaced “suicidal empathy” are allowed to override basic public safety. Indeed, the man accused of killing Falzone, repeat offender Rhamell Burke, already had a long history of arrests involving assault and other crimes, yet he continued cycling through a system more concerned with protecting criminals than protecting innocent people. Even more disturbing, a black woman Burke allegedly attacked weeks earlier admitted she declined to cooperate with prosecutors because she “didn’t want to put another black man in jail”: a tragic illustration of how racial guilt and activist-driven thinking can cloud moral judgment. Within weeks, Burke allegedly escalated from subway harassment to lethal violence, pushing an elderly man to his death only hours after being released from psychiatric evaluation. it's cases like this that fuel growing frustration with progressive criminal justice policies that repeatedly prioritize offenders, excuses, and social theories over law, order, and the safety of ordinary people.

Zohran Mamdani’s City-Run Grocery Plan Draws Pushback from Local Bodegas, Supermarkets

TheHill.com:

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s (D) plan to open a city-owned grocery store in East Harlem is drawing pushback from critics who question its feasibility and warn of its economic impact on local businesses. At a rally Sunday marking his first 100 days as mayor, the democratic socialist announced the location of the first of five city-owned grocery stores — one in each of New York City’s boroughs — that he plans to open in the next couple years.

Mamdani identified La Marqueta, a marketplace in East Harlem, as the site for Manhattan’s store, which he said he hopes to open by 2029. The sites for the other four stores have not yet been announced, but Mamdani said he hopes to open the first city-owned store in late 2027, with all five operating by the end of his first term.

In making the announcement, Mamdani took an early step toward fulfilling a key campaign promise aimed at addressing the city’s affordability crisis by offering lower-cost groceries. “When corporations control every part of the food supply chain, prices go up, basic necessities become luxuries and workers and customers both lose,” Mamdani said. “A public option allows us to intervene where the market has failed.”

Not only is this city-run grocery store bad for local grocery stores and supermarkets, but it's also a scam when you note that it won't open till 2030, will cost taxpayers $30M (quadruple what it costs to open a normal store) and will only have discounted prices for a select few foods. Mamdani also plans to remove existing subsidies from current NYC grocery stores, which will drive up the competitor's prices. But let all the Mamdani shills out there tell it...socialism works!!!

Liberal CNN Host Abby Phillip Corrects False Claim About NYC Terror Attack

Mediaite.com:

As the two groups confronted one another, a member of the latter group, Emir Balat, proceeded to hurl an improvised explosive device at the former. Balat and a co-conspirator, Ibrahim Kayumi, have been arrested in connection with the attack. Authorities have since revealed that Balat and Kayumi were inspired by ISIS and confirmed that the right-wing protesters were their target.

Phillip’s identification of Mamdani as the target of the attack attracted quite a bit of attention online, and the host corrected herself on Wednesday morning.

“I want to correct something I said last night. The bombs thrown in New York City over the weekend by ISIS inspired attackers was thrown into a crowd of anti-Muslim protestors and not specifically targeted at Mayor Mamdani,” she wrote in an X post on Wednesday “That wording was inaccurate and I didn’t catch it ahead of time. I apologize for the error.”

Of course, anyone who watches Abby Phillip’s show regularly already knows that she frequently lies on the GOP and always runs interference for Democrats. But this particular falsehood was so blatant and drew so much attention in conservative circles online that, unlike many similar moments in the past, she was ultimately forced to issue an apology and a correction. One can only speculate that the response may also be tied to the possibility that CNN could soon have new ownership—leadership that might try to shift the network away from being viewed as “MSNBC 2.0” and toward a more traditional cable news outlet focused on straightforward journalism rather than overt host bias. And for Phillip, whose on-air style includes interrupting and fact-checking conservative guests while giving liberal panelists wide latitude to attack Republicans spew any lies they want unchecked, this latest incident has renewed calls that she needs to resign.

White Liberals Elect Zohran Mamdani as the Next Mayor of New York City

NPR.com:

Zohran Mamdani will be the next mayor of New York City, becoming the first Muslim and person of South Asian descent — as well as the youngest in over a century — to hold the position.

"The future is in our hands," Mamdani declared to roaring applause Tuesday night at a victory celebration in Brooklyn. "My friends, tonight we have toppled a political dynasty."

The 34-year-old, Ugandan-born Democratic socialist defeated former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who ran as an Independent, and Republican Curtis Sliwa in Tuesday's election, according to a race call by the Associated Press.

Honestly, there are two ways to look at this. Against a narcissistic and corrupt figure like Andrew Cuomo and a bumbling Republican opponent like Curtis Sliwa, Mamdani (who was favored from the jump) was always going to win this race. Then there’s the more practical perspective: in a deep-blue state like New York, especially in NYC, a Republican winning the mayor’s office is damn near impossible. Either way, Democrats are absolutely giddy about yesterday’s major elections, while the GOP has even more reason to worry about the upcoming midterms. And now that the elections are over, the real question is: will we finally see an end to this insipid government shutdown?

NYC Mayor Eric Adams Quits Re-Election Campaign After Sagging in Polls

amNY.com:

Eric Adams will officially be a one-term mayor. Hizzoner announced on Sunday that he is suspending his independent re-election campaign. The campaign had seemingly slowed to a crawl in recent days after being repeatedly denied public campaign financing and polling in last place for weeks in the four-way race.

“Despite all we’ve achieved, I cannot continue my re-election campaign,” Adams said, blaming bad press and an inability to gain public campaign matching funds for paralyzing his campaign.

“The constant media speculation about my future and the CFB decision to withhold millions of dollars have undermined my ability to raise the funds needed for a serious campaign. I hope that over time, New Yorkers will see the city thrive under our leadership, and policies that we have put in place should be continued and expanded.”

NYC is losing a good man in Adams, but Mamdani's rise and sagging poll numbers really left him with no choice but to drop out the race. Question now is does this help Andrew Cuomo? A horrible person who enthusiastically gave NYC cashless bail and screwed people over and over again during Covid. Also, what's next for Adams? Especially after Trump dangling an administration spot in front of him in return for dropping out the mayoral race. Personally, I think Adams should say no to Trump and go after a Democrat congressional seat or even wait for a Governor or Senator spot if he wants to stay in politics.
