Supreme Court Strikes Colorado Ban on Conversion Therapy for Trans and Gay Minors

NPR.com:

The Supreme Court has ruled that Colorado's law banning conversion therapy "regulates speech based on viewpoint." At issue was the practice of an evangelical Christian, Kaley Chiles, a counselor who wants to provide talk therapy to teenagers seeking to discuss their sexual orientation or gender identity, including those hoping to "reduce or eliminate unwanted sexual attractions, change sexual behaviors, or grow in the experience of harmony with one's physical body," according to her complaint.

Her lawyer argued that Colorado's law prevents voluntary conversations with minors seeking her help. The majority opinion states, "the lower courts erred by failing to apply sufficiently rigorous First Amendment scrutiny.

"As applied to Ms. Chiles, Colorado's law regulates the content of her speech and goes further to prescribe what views she may and may not express, discriminating on the basis of viewpoint," the opinion says. Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson dissented, pointing to precedent on states regulating health care professionals.

Funny how much backlash KBJ's lone dissent is receiving so much online from conservatives, but like I've always said about DEI Justice Jackson: she's a radical ideologue who serves at the whim of the far-Left loons who forced Biden to nominate her, not the Constitution. That said, the fact that the other two other liberals (Kagan & Sotomayor) joined with the majority here proves what a slam-duck decision this was for SCOTUS and a big win for parents and children alike. To think, Colorado (which has long history of being hostile towards Christians) banned therapists from telling kids the truth: you can't change your gender, and gender-transition surgeries are dangerous and harmful--unconstitutional censorship of the worst kind. Thank goodness SCOTUS ruled decisively and in favor of free speech and common sense.

Don Lemon Sued for ‘Severe Emotional Distress’ Over Minneapolis Church Protest

YahooNews.com:

Don Lemon was sued this week with a group of protestors for “severe emotional distress” following the January “ICE Out” protest inside a Minneapolis church.

Churchgoer Ann Doucette claimed in a lawsuit filed Monday that the protest unlawfully interfered with her ability to freely exercise her religion and resulted in “severe emotional distress, fear, anxiety and trauma.”

Lemon documented an anti-ICE protest that took place at a Jan. 18 church service led by the church’s pastor David Easterwood, an alleged ICE field officer, following the fatal shooting of Renee Good.

Took this parishioner long enough because there's no justification for protesting inside a church and Lemon knew the deal when he decided to show up there and make himself an active participant. In other words, not the actions of a so-called "journalist" (as he loves to claim, but really for legal purposes), but that of an activist. As since he got canned from CNN not too long back, Lemon knew that the only way to keep himself relevant was to join the anti-Trump Resistance. There's also the fact that as a former journalist, Lemon knew that there was no way those protestors would've done this to say a mosque, or any non-Christian house of worship for the matter--there would've been hell to pay for that. That said, every person who was in that church, when Lemon and his crew barged in to scare and harass them, should sue them. And not just for emotional distress, but on civil terms too as the best way to wreck Lemon's life is to make an example of him and go after his pockets.

Don Lemon Arrested by Federal Agents in Connection to Minnesota Church Protest

Mediaite.com:

Former CNN anchor Don Lemon has been arrested by federal agents in connection to his presence at a Minnesota church protest, according to his lawyer.

Lemon’s lawyer said the former CNN host was detained in Los Angeles on Thursday night.

“Don Lemon was taken into custody by federal agents last night in Los Angeles, where he was covering the Grammy awards,” Abbe Lowell announced. “Don has been a journalist for 30 years, and his constitutionally protected work in Minneapolis was no different than what he has always done.”

It’s funny to watch the tribal reactions and selective “outrage” surrounding Don Lemon’s arrest, with people reflexively defending their political side. Partisanship aside, there’s a clear argument for why the arrest was justified. Lemon didn’t enter that church as a neutral journalist, he went as an activist, a prominent figure aligned with the anti-Trump movement that dominates much of the mainstream media, BlueSky, and blue-state politics. Indeed, since leaving CNN Lemon (like former a-hole colleague Jim Acosta) has leaned heavily into the Never Trump brand, frequently criticizing Trump, the GOP, and conservatives at every turn. And while he has every right to express those views, that’s different from participating in direct action and/or mob activity. According to the charges, Lemon was with agitators who were preparing to confront a church based on a rumor about one of its pastors, conduct that falls under the FACE Act, a federal felony. Authorities allege the group occupied the church, harassed parishioners, blocked exits, and refused to leave when asked, interfering with people’s right to worship. The indictment also claims Lemon obstructed the front entrance while questioning attendees about immigration policy and that his team had audio from inside beforehand, suggesting coordination. Taken together, the situation presents serious legal trouble for him.

St. John’s University Student Group Blocks Turning Point USA from Opening Chapter After Charlie Kirk Assassination

NYPost.com:

St. John’s University student government blocked a bid by the late Charlie Kirk’s conservative Turning Point USA group from opening a chapter on campus shortly after his assassination last fall, The Post has learned.

The student government of SJU — one of the largest Catholic universities in the country — denied the application to open a Turning Point chapter months after Kirk was shot dead by a sniper on Sept. 10.

The student government has “sole authority” to approve or deny new organizations, a university spokesperson told The Post on Tuesday. Clubs or organizations looking to open or “revitalize” chapters on campus have to pass a four-round “Power to Organize” process, he added.

Really now, what did Turning Point USA expect? A Catholic university allowing a 'Free speech advocate" but also a borderline racist, having a group on their campus? Yeah, that's as likely as the Jets winning the Super Bowl.
