Chicago Bulls Waive Christian Player Jaden Ivey After He Spoke Out Against the NBA for Promoting 'Pride Month'

ESPN.com:

The Chicago Bulls have waived guard Jaden Ivey due to conduct detrimental to the team, they announced on Monday. The news comes after Ivey posted a series of videos ranting about religion and other topics on social media in recent weeks, with one on Monday morning calling out the NBA for celebrating Pride Month, saying it's celebrating "unrighteousness."

Ivey, 24, has spoken in the past of dealing with depression. The Bulls acquired Ivey in a trade with the Detroit Pistons last month. He appeared in four games for the Bulls before being shut down for the rest of the season due to a left knee injury.

Ivey was drafted with the No. 5 pick in 2022 and featured early for a rebuilding Pistons team before knee issues limited him to just 30 games in 2024-25 and kept him out for several games this season.

Of course, if Ivey was say openly supportive of DEI policies or spoke out against police brutality, the Bulls wouldn't have any issues with his views or right to free speech and thus would leave him alone. But since we're talking about a professional athlete who also happens to be a Christian and who isn't afraid to stand up for his beliefs, he gets waived. Hypocrisy, much? Yeah, me thinks so.

Nicki Minaj Calls for Protections for Christians in Nigeria at UN Event

APNews.com:

Rapper Nicki Minaj took up President Donald Trump’s allegations that Christians are persecuted in Nigeria, saying Tuesday at a United Nations event organized by the U.S. that she wants to shine a spotlight on “the deadly threat.”

Trump has said Christianity faces an “existential threat” in Nigeria and has told the Pentagon to begin preparing for possible military action in the West African nation. Experts and residents say some attacks target Christians, but most emphasize that in the widespread violence that has long plagued the West African nation, everyone is a potential victim, regardless of background or belief.

The Trinidadian-born Minaj thanked Trump for his leadership and for calling for urgent action “to defend Christians in Nigeria, to combat extremism and to bring a stop to violence against those who simply want to exercise their natural right to freedom of religion or belief.”

So basically, conservatives traded Candace Owens for Nicki Minaj. Jokes aside, with ongoing reports of Christian genocide in Nigeria, Nicki appears to be on the right side of this issue. Naturally, as sure as night follows day, she’ll face backlash from the usual Trump-haters for “siding with the enemy.” But Nicki is already mega-rich, and her legion of devoted 'Barbz' would follow her to the gates of hell if asked, so public outrage isn’t likely to faze her. The real question now is--Nicki or no Nicki--how serious Trump actually is about putting an end to these killings.

Trump Threatens to Halt U.S. Aid and Launch Strikes on Nigeria Over Christian Killings

BBC.com:

US President Donald Trump has ordered the military to prepare for action in Nigeria to tackle Islamist militant groups, accusing the government of failing to protect Christians.

Trump did not say which killings he was referring to, but claims of a genocide against Nigeria's Christians have been circulating in recent weeks and months in some right-wing US circles.

Groups monitoring violence say there is no evidence to suggest that Christians are being killed more than Muslims in Nigeria, which is roughly evenly divided between followers of the two religions. An advisor to Nigeria's president told the BBC that any military action against the jihadist groups should be carried out together.

Of course, Nigeria has a long history of corruption and violence that has left the country impoverished and unstable. Similarly, the U.S. has a long record of military interventions that often leave nations worse off once it withdraws. Adding to all this uncertainty, Trump’s tendency to bloviate makes it unclear how serious he truly is about launching missile strikes against a sovereign nation like Nigeria. But ironically, the ever-present oil factor may be the real reason he’s even considering such action.

Federal Gov't Denies Claims of Genocide Against Christians in Nigeria

VanguardNGR.com:

The Federal Government has strongly refuted recent allegations by some international platforms and online commentators suggesting that terrorists operating in Nigeria are engaged in a systematic genocide against Christians.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the government described the claims as “false, baseless, despicable, and divisive,” insisting that they misrepresent the country’s complex security challenges.

According to the Minister, portraying Nigeria’s fight against terrorism as a targeted campaign against a particular religious group oversimplifies the situation and risks fueling division along ethnic and religious lines. “The violent activities of terrorist groups are not confined to any religious or ethnic community. Muslims, Christians, and even those who do not identify with any faith have suffered at their hands,” Idris said.

This what upsets me about about the pro-Palestianian protestors and an msm that's finally starting to platform them only because Kamala lost: this year alone more Christians have been killed in Nigeria than Palestinians in Gaza, yet not a single protest or mention in the msm for them.
