Israel and Trump Launch Strikes Against Iran; Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei Dead After IDF Strike Hits Tehran Compound

CNN.com:

Iran’s militant and unyielding supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who ruled the Islamic Republic for more than three decades and oversaw an era of harsh internal repression and confrontation with the United States and Israel, has died following the Israeli strike in Tehran, as his compound was reduced to rubble, a senior Israeli official told Fox News Digital.

"Khamenei was the contemporary Middle East’s longest-serving autocrat. He did not get to be that way by being a gambler. Khamenei was an ideologue, but one who ruthlessly pursued the preservation and protection of his ideology, often taking two steps forward and one step back," Behnam Ben Taleblu, senior director of FDD’s Iran program, told Fox News Digital.

"Khamenei’s worldview was shaped by his militant anti-Americanism and antisemitism, which first manifested itself in his protests against the Shah of Iran," he added.

Well, to the ire of the msm and many liberals online, reports that Khamenei has been killed have sparked celebrations in many corners of the world, particularly among those who have long viewed his regime as one that governed through violence, intimidation, and the relentless repression of dissent while making “death to America” a guiding slogan for nearly five decades. For critics of Tehran, the moment feels historic, potentially marking the end of a theocratic system that exported jihadist ideology and destabilized the region. Yet the jubilation is tempered by a serious question: if this truly signals the collapse of the Islamic Republic’s leadership structure, what comes next? After all it's well-known that regime change alone does not guarantee freedom, and the harder task is building a stable, genuinely democratic state. If Trump is poised to play a decisive role in shaping Iran’s future, skeptics are warranted in asking whether there is a concrete, realistic plan to help foster democratic institutions and prevent a power vacuum or whether the fall of one strongman could simply open the door to another cycle of chaos, like we've seen enough times before. Only time will tell.
