Pentagon Says It Will Livestream the Firing Squad Execution of Fort Hood Shooter Nidal Malik Gasan

YahooNews.com:

The execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan by firing squad will be livestreamed to the public, the Pentagon said Thursday. The Army announced this week that the execution would take place at Fort Hood on Dec. 3 after Hasan was convicted of killing 13 people and injuring 32 others in a shooting at the military base in 2009.

On Wednesday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told the conservative TV outlet Real America's Voice, "He's gonna get a firing squad of soldiers, as it should be. We'll make sure that people are able to watch it, that it's public — because people need to understand that there's serious consequences for these types of things."Pentagon officials clarified Thursday that the execution would be livestreamed, the Associated Press said.

The U.S. military has not carried out an execution since 1961 and has not used a firing squad to execute a service member since World War II. Hegseth's comments have put further spotlight on how the death penalty is carried out in the U.S., following the failed attempt to execute Christa Pike by lethal injection. The failed execution prompted Tennessee's governor to halt further executions this year and order a third-party review.

Simply put, some sick and depraved shit. In fact, so deranged that even VP Vance wants no part of it. And Hesgeth and Trump are getting it from both sides when it comes to this stupid publicity stunt. And that's what this is, a stunt. After all, while many might feel that Nidal Hasan deserves to die for his heinous act, a public execution only amounts to a thrist for vengeance as well as a lifetime of martyrdom for Hasan.
