Don Lemon Arrested by Federal Agents in Connection to Minnesota Church Protest

Mediaite.com:

Former CNN anchor Don Lemon has been arrested by federal agents in connection to his presence at a Minnesota church protest, according to his lawyer.

Lemon’s lawyer said the former CNN host was detained in Los Angeles on Thursday night.

“Don Lemon was taken into custody by federal agents last night in Los Angeles, where he was covering the Grammy awards,” Abbe Lowell announced. “Don has been a journalist for 30 years, and his constitutionally protected work in Minneapolis was no different than what he has always done.”

It’s funny to watch the tribal reactions and selective “outrage” surrounding Don Lemon’s arrest, with people reflexively defending their political side. Partisanship aside, there’s a clear argument for why the arrest was justified. Lemon didn’t enter that church as a neutral journalist, he went as an activist, a prominent figure aligned with the anti-Trump movement that dominates much of the mainstream media, BlueSky, and blue-state politics. Indeed, since leaving CNN Lemon (like former a-hole colleague Jim Acosta) has leaned heavily into the Never Trump brand, frequently criticizing Trump, the GOP, and conservatives at every turn. And while he has every right to express those views, that’s different from participating in direct action and/or mob activity. According to the charges, Lemon was with agitators who were preparing to confront a church based on a rumor about one of its pastors, conduct that falls under the FACE Act, a federal felony. Authorities allege the group occupied the church, harassed parishioners, blocked exits, and refused to leave when asked, interfering with people’s right to worship. The indictment also claims Lemon obstructed the front entrance while questioning attendees about immigration policy and that his team had audio from inside beforehand, suggesting coordination. Taken together, the situation presents serious legal trouble for him.

Former Illinois Sheriff’s Deputy Sean Grayson Sentenced to 20 Years for Murder of Sonya Massey

RollingStone.com:

Former Illinois Sheriff’s Deputy Sean Grayson was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder of Sonya Massey. Grayson fatally shot Massey in her home in 2024 after she called 911 to report a suspected intruder in her Springfield home.

Grayson was convicted in October of second-degree murder. During his sentencing on Thursday, Grayson, who is white, said he made “terrible decisions” the night he killed Massey, a Black mother of two, and apologized in court for her death. “I was very unprofessional that night,” Grayson said via NBC News. “She didn’t deserve to be yelled and cussed at and called names. Nobody deserves that.”

Grayson was given the maximum penalty, with Judge Ryan Cadigan of the 7th Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois saying, “that bit of unreasonable rage needs to be deterred.” Judge Cadigan also denied the defense’s motion for a new trial, which they filed in November. After serving 20 years, Grayson will be under supervised probation for two years.

In my opinion, 20 years isn’t enough. Grayson should have been convicted of first-degree murder in the first place and sentenced to life without parole: that’s how callous and evil his actions were the night he killed Sonya Massey in her own home. But what I also find striking is the relative lack of national coverage and outrage surrounding this case, especially from many prominent voices on the Left. Given that it involves a racist, white police officer killing an unarmed Black woman, it seems like the kind of case that would once have sparked wall-to-wall attention and activism. Which raises some questions for me: Has the urgency around police brutality faded over the years? Is there a leadership vacuum in black activist spaces? Or has political focus shifted so heavily toward national electoral battles and partisan fights that cases like this don’t receive the same sustained attention? It’s something worth thinking about.

St. John’s University Student Group Blocks Turning Point USA from Opening Chapter After Charlie Kirk Assassination

NYPost.com:

St. John’s University student government blocked a bid by the late Charlie Kirk’s conservative Turning Point USA group from opening a chapter on campus shortly after his assassination last fall, The Post has learned.

The student government of SJU — one of the largest Catholic universities in the country — denied the application to open a Turning Point chapter months after Kirk was shot dead by a sniper on Sept. 10.

The student government has “sole authority” to approve or deny new organizations, a university spokesperson told The Post on Tuesday. Clubs or organizations looking to open or “revitalize” chapters on campus have to pass a four-round “Power to Organize” process, he added.

Really now, what did Turning Point USA expect? A Catholic university allowing a 'Free speech advocate" but also a borderline racist, having a group on their campus? Yeah, that's as likely as the Jets winning the Super Bowl.

Trump White House Distances Itself from Provocative Claims by Kristi Noem, Others on Alex Pretti Shooting

ABCNews.com:

President Donald Trump and White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt are distancing themselves from the provocative statements made by top administration officials in the immediate aftermath of the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti involving federal agents in Minneapolis.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and deputy White House chief of staff Stephen Miller quickly accused Pretti, an ICU nurse, of domestic terrorism after Saturday's shooting without citing any evidence.

"Does the president agree with them?" ABC News Chief White House Correspondent Mary Bruce asked Leavitt during Monday's press briefing. "Look, as I've said, I have not heard the president characterize Mr. Pretti in that way," Leavitt said. "However, I have heard the president say he wants to let the facts in the investigation lead itself."

Trump is unlikely to fire Kristi Noem anytime soon, partly because it’s still early in his administration, partly because she fits the alluring image he tends to favor, and partly because removing her would hand Democrats an easy win. That said, sidelining Noem may be a different story. Reports that she has had little communication with Tom Homan (who has far more hands-on experience with ICE operations and immigration enforcement), raise questions about internal coordination. At the same time, since Noem was made the border czar she often appears more focused on photo ops and cable news hits than on mastering policy details, which can undermine credibility on such a complex issue. If the administration wants tighter messaging and more effective execution on immigration, shifting more responsibility to seasoned operators (led by Homan) while reducing Noem's public-facing role could be a practical middle ground.

Now Uber-Liberal Virginia Moves to Effectively Abolish Life Without Parole

LibertyUnyielding.com:

When Virginia abolished the death penalty in 2021, Virginians were assured that it wasn’t needed, because the worst murderers could be given life sentences without the possibility of parole.

But soon, even the worst killers could be released. Legislation has been introduced to allow all prison inmates serving long sentences to seek release after specified periods — even serial killers, child killers, and other murderers who once would have been eligible for the death penalty. HB 853 and SB 634, known as the “second look” bills, have been amended to create three tiers for release. Some inmates could seek release after 15 years, while those who commit the most serious offenses would have to wait 20 years or 25 years, depending on their offense.

Most Virginia inmates already spend less than 15 years in prison. For example, manslaughter carries a sentence of one to ten years. Drug possession can lead to sentences of up to 6 months, 1 year, or 10 years, depending on the type of drug. But some murderers, such as serial killers, are serving sentences of life without parole. This “second look” legislation could not only release them, but give them more freedom than they would get from parole. Inmates released on parole are subject to the supervision of a parole officer, and if they misbehave, they can be sent back to prison for a long time. But inmates released under HB 853 and SB 634 would be free as a bird, with no parole officer to keep tabs on them.

Yeah, the days of the "moderate Democrat" are just about over. And new Democratic Gov. Abigail Spanberger (a woman who ran a centrist campaign last year) epitomizes the hard-Left turn, as from Day 1 of taking office she has initiated policies--from a plethora of new taxes to rent control measures to bringing back DEI policies to taking away life without parole--that will only please the scumbags in the BlueSky Left and George Soros. Indeed, if Republicans intend to win the midterms this year, they need to 'pounce' on this radical agenda.

U.S. Homicides Drop 21% in 2025, Lowest Rate Since 1900

CBS.com:

Murders plummeted more than 20% in 2025 from the year before, the single-largest one-year drop on record — and it might be the lowest murder rate in the U.S. since 1900, a study released Thursday by the Council on Criminal Justice found.

The annual crime trends report analyzed data from 40 large cities across the United States for 13 different crime types, including murder, carjacking, theft and drug offenses.

Alongside homicides, which dropped 21% from 2024, carjackings have declined 61% since 2023, while shoplifting is down 10% since 2024. In general, the overall crime rate declined, with violent crimes at or below levels seen in 2019, the analysis found — drug offenses were the only category that rose during this period, while sexual assault remained even.

Considering all the talk now going on about the Epstein files, Greenland, Jack Smith, ICE and what-have-you, with the 2026 midterms approaching, the Trump administration should be far more vocal about the case that its crime policies have helped make America safer. After all, the numbers are hard to ignore: murders fell 21% last year in 35 major U.S. cities (the largest one-year drop ever and likely the lowest rate since 1900), while 11 of 13 major crime categories declined in 2025, with robberies and gun assaults down more than 20%, according to the Council on Criminal Justice. Of course, liberals will note that violent crime was already falling late in Biden’s term, questioning how much credit Trump deserves, but politics is about clarity, not academic debates over causation. Trump campaigned as a law-and-order president, and his administration has emphasized a “whole-of-government” approach that includes supporting law enforcement, cracking down on repeat offenders, deploying the National Guard in overwhelmed cities, and deporting criminal illegal aliens. Whether these policies sparked or sustained the decline, Republicans should make a simple argument to voters: America is safer, the COVID-era crime wave is reversing, and keeping that momentum requires staying the course in 2026.

Chris Cuomo Reverts to Old Habits, Threatens Former CNN Colleague Scott Jennings Over Mild Pushback at Word Police

Mediaite.com:

NewsNation host Chris Cuomo went ballistic on CNN’s Scott Jennings for using the term “illegal immigrant” and warned he will be forced to stop saying it when “somebody beats your ass.” Cuomo said the pummeling would be warranted for using such an “inhumane” word.

The ex-CNN star went off on his former colleague in a video rant posted to X and Instagram on Wednesday.

Cuomo referenced the spat Jennings got into with gun control activist Cameron Kasky on Monday, where Kasky told Jennings he “can’t say ‘illegals anymore.'” Jennings scoffed at Kasky and told him ,”How are you gonna enforce your edict on me, just out of curiosity?”

Gotta admit, this surprised me. Because outside of getting his ass owned by comedian/podcaster Dave Smith some years back on the liberal media's role in misinformation during the COVID era, since he got canned by CNN in 2021, Cuomo was doing a pretty good job at being a real journalist on his NewsNation show. But Scott Jennings pushes back on some young, smug and dumb liberal pundit for trying to word ploice him over the use of the term 'illegal alien' (a term Cuomo himself used quite frequently while at CNN) and suddenly Cuomo unleashes some unhinged attack on his ex-colleague of 4 years while accusing Jennings of trying to be a 'tough guy'?!? From the same guy who told his viewers on CNN that they'd be killing their neighbors of they didn't get the COVID shot...yeah, what a prick.

By Lying and Taking Part in Minnesota Anti-ICE Church Invasion, Don Lemon Proves That He's an Activist and Not a Joumalist

NYPost.com:

The Department of Justice will “pursue charges” against the anti-ICE agitators who invaded a Sunday church service in St. Paul, including disgraced former CNN reporter Don Lemon, who feebly attempted to cloak his participation in the chaos as an “act of journalism.”

Assistant attorney general for civil rights Harmeet Dhillon told conservative podcaster Benny Johnson that the department “will pursue charges” related to the incident in which families and children were terrorized by a screaming mob of protesters at Cities Church.

Lemon “went into the facility, and then he began, quote, unquote ‘committing journalism,’ as if that’s a sort of shield from being a part, an embedded part, of a criminal conspiracy. It isn’t,” Dhillon clarified during an appearance on “The Benny Show” Monday.

A lot of conservatives online are angry with Don Lemon for continuing to behave like a douchebag and allegedly taking part in what could be an arrestable offense over there in Minnesota. But what disgusts me most about Lemon after yesterday’s actions, however, is his continued insistence on lying about who he is, claiming he’s “just a journalist doing his job,” rather than acknowledging what he’s clearly become since his unceremonious departure from CNN: an openly anti-Trump, full-blown Resistance activist. After all, Lemon’s former colleague, fired anchor Jim Acosta, has no problem wearing his political bias on his sleeve nowadays (whether on his self-righteous podcast or on any liberal platform willing to host him) so why can’t Lemon do the same? The answer seems obvious: Lemon knows that the moment he fully embraces full-blown Resistance, he forfeits any remaining credibility he has as a legitimate journalist. And in the end, there’s nothing more pretentious than watching someone like Lemon desperately try to stay relevant by pretending to be something he’s not, while denying what conservatives said about him the whole entire time he was at CNN: he's a narcissistic, lying POS.

AIPAC Secures $3.3 Billion in New House of Representatives Bill

From AIPAC's X Account:

AIPAC applauds the House of Representatives for passing critical pro-Israel provisions, including $3.3 billion in security assistance to Israel, in the Fiscal Year 2026 National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs Appropriations Act.

The pro-Israel provisions in this bill further reinforce the bipartisan and ironclad support for the U.S.-Israel partnership in Congress. These resources help ensure that our ally can confront shared strategic threats and that America has a strong and capable ally in the heart of the Middle East. The vital security funding in this bill strengthens Israel while bolstering the U.S. economy and creating jobs here at home.

In addition to the $3.3 billion in security assistance, the bill also includes: ✅ A complete ban on funding to UNRWA, the Hamas-affiliated U.N. agency in Gaza whose members participated in the October 7th massacre.

So AIPAC is celebrating after helping secure an additional $3.3 billion for Israel in the House bill, while also pushing Congress to fully cut off funding to international bodies investigating Israel’s actions, including the ICC, the International Court of Justice, and the U.N. Commission of Inquiry. The legislation also defunds UNRWA, the U.N. agency responsible for providing aid in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as to Palestinian refugees in Jordan and other countries. Yeah, that's your tax dollars at work.

Trump Announces the “Great Healthcare Plan” That Pays Money Directly to Americans

NBCNews.com:

The Trump administration announced a plan aimed at lowering health care costs in the U.S. on Thursday, just as Affordable Care Act open enrollment ends in most states. But the plan lacks key details and largely restates proposals President Donald Trump has previously outlined.

The proposal, dubbed “The Great Healthcare Plan,” is being framed by administration officials as a broader effort to rein in health costs, including lowering prescription drug prices, redirecting government subsidies from insurers to consumers and expanding price transparency requirements.

Trump has been promising a health care plan overhaul for months. The outline for the plan lands as Republicans in Congress negotiate for a bill to extend the enhanced ACA tax credits, which expired Dec. 31 and led to higher premiums for millions of people. The Senate is set leave for a weeklong recess, further diminishing any chance of a deal.

Well, this is a start anyway for Republicans who usually do nothing but complain about ObamaCare without having any plan of their own. But without any clear funding or an execution timeline, how serious is the GOP about this? Only time will tell.

Supreme Court Hears Arguments in Cases Challenging Transgender Sports Bans

ABCNews.com:

The Supreme Court on Tuesday appeared ready to uphold two state laws prohibiting transgender girls from competing on girls' sports teams, as a majority of conservative justices voiced skepticism of arguments that excluding the athletes would violate Title IX and the U.S. Constitution.

"There's strong assertions of equality interests on both sides," observed Justice Brett Kavanaugh, a father and coach of two athlete daughters. But "given that half the states are allowing ... transgender girls and women to participate and about half are not, why would we at this point ... jump in and try to constitutionalize a rule for the whole country while there’s still uncertainty and debate?"

The pair of cases, marking the first time the court was wading into the culture wars debate, involve laws from Idaho and West Virginia, both of which were blocked by lower courts on grounds they discriminated on the basis of sex in violation of federal law and the Constitution's equal protection clause. Twenty-seven other states have similar measures.

In a world guided by facts, this decision should be straightforward: a unanimous 9–0 ruling against allowing men to compete in women’s sports. However, that outcome is unlikely, largely because of ideological divisions on the Court, especially when it comes to Justices Kagan, Sotomayor, and Jackson, and what critics see as a broader shift in constitutional interpretation driven by activist judging. Hell, even some justices labeled “conservative” have, over time, shown greater sympathy toward progressive legal arguments. And as a result, conservatives should focus less on the Court's liberal wing (and all their insanity) and more on Justices Roberts and Barrett, who may prove decisive. As despite clear biological differences between men and women, the case is likely to be close, reflecting a broader tension between ideology and empirical reality.

Senator Elizabeth Warren Says Trump Called Her to Discuss His Latest Price Caps

Mediaite.com:

Talk about unlikely partners. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) on Monday said President Donald Trump called her to talk about his plan for capping credit card interest rates as both Democrats and Republicans are increasingly focused on “affordability” heading into the 2026 midterms.

Warren said she was open to working with the president on his plan — if he got Republicans to support legislation she supports. Punchbowl News reporter Brendan Pedersen shared the Trump-Warren phone call news on X.

“After my speech, the president called me, I delivered this same message on affordability to him directly,” Warren said. “I told him that Congress can pass legislation to cap credit card rates if he will actually fight for it.”

Putting aside the petty and long differences these two have had, in such a deeply polarizing moment, seeing any Democrat (outside of John Fetterman) willing to work with Trump on legislation that could positively affect everyone is striking. That said, it’s fair to ask how serious Trump and Warren actually are about capping credit card interest rates. Warren has said she spoke with Trump about the issue last year, and with the midterms coming up in November, she knows she has leverage, especially given that the opposition party is often favored in those elections. Still, lowering costs for working people should be the top priority for all politicians, credit card interest rates are through the roof, and this is something Trump needs to deliver on.

Jasmine Crockett Revives the Identity Politics Apology Playbook...with Help from Bowen Yang

TheDailyBeast.com:

Comedians Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers are backpedaling after facing backlash over their comments about Rep. Jasmine Crockett. The Las Culturistas podcast hosts had discussed various politicians on an episode of their show published on Jan. 8.

During a segment of “I Don’t Think So Honey,” which features a one-minute rant about culture, Rogers had ripped into California Gov. Gavin Newsom, saying that he needed to get vocal surgery if he wanted to run for president.

The co-host said that he was turned off “anytime a politician is making it too obviously about themselves.” This remark led into his discussion about Crockett, who is running for Senate in Texas. Two days after the podcast episode aired, the podcasters issued apologies. Yang promised to use his platform “more responsibly,” and Rogers vowed to “be more thoughtful.”

From a practical standpoint, apologizing for criticizing a politician should never happen. After all, politicians work for the public and should never be above scrutiny. Identity politics, however, changes that dynamic. Because regardless of the fact that Jasmine Crockett is pro-Israel, widely criticized as lacking substantive policy initiatives, and best known for publicly berating Donald Trump on the daily, any negative commentary about her risks being reframed as sexist and/or misogynistic rather than political disagreement. In this environment, criticism (as Stephen A. Smith found out recently) is no longer evaluated on its merits but filtered through identity, discouraging open debate and forcing a couple of progressive, gay white liberals to say sorry.

Renee Nicole Good’s Wife Radicalized Her and Eventually Got Her Killed

NYPost.com:

Renee Nicole Good’s wife was antagonizing ICE agents and even urged her to “drive baby, drive” just moments before the fatal shooting in Minneapolis, according to shocking new video taken on the agent’s own cell phone.

The video — filmed by agent Jonathan Ross on Wednesday and obtained by Alpha News — shows the heated interaction between the Goods in the lead-up to the shooting. Renee can be seen behind the driver’s seat of the plum-colored Honda Pilot, while her wife,

Rebecca, stands in the street next to the car. A dog is also sitting in the back seat, peering out an open window. As Ross records the interaction, Renee says to him, “That’s fine dude, I’m not mad at you” before her spouse starts jawing at the federal officer as whistles and sirens can be heard in the background.

Few people outside conservative media are willing to say this (largely due to political bias and fear of backlash), but Renee Nicole Good would likely still be alive if not for her wife, Rebecca. The facts point consistently in that direction. Rebecca directly antagonized ICE agents at the scene and was heard yelling “drive, baby, drive” just seconds before an agent fatally shot Renee. Rebecca has also admitted responsibility for bringing the couple to Minnesota specifically to protest and obstruct ICE agents in the course of their duties.

There is further evidence that Rebecca radicalized Renee into far-left activism. After Trump was re-elected last year, the couple left the country, later returned, and became involved with “Minnesota ICE Watch,” a liberal activist group that trains members to resist ICE agents and even attempt “de-arrests” of detainees. But Rebecca’s brain-washing extended beyond activism. She has a documented history of abusing Renee’s children, which ultimately led to two of them being removed from her wife's custody and placed with their father. This pattern suggests that Rebecca was the dominant partner in the relationship, as Renee consistently prioritized Rebecca’s feelings over the well-being of her own children.

But that dynamic shouldn't surprise anyone as AWFL's who have experienced past abuse from men are statistically among the most susceptible to entering same-sex relationships as a way to cope with trauma and seek a sense of safety. Taken together, the evidence makes one conclusion unavoidable: Rebecca bears the ultimate responsibility for Renee being killed. In other words, arrest the wife.

Trump Moves to Ban Big Investors From Buying Single-Family Homes

CNBC.com:

President Donald Trump said the U.S. should bar large institutional investors from buying single-family homes, arguing that corporate ownership has helped push housing further out of reach for everyday Americans.

“For a very long time, buying and owning a home was considered the pinnacle of the American Dream. It was the reward for working hard, and doing the right thing, but now, because of the Record High Inflation caused by Joe Biden and the Democrats in Congress, that American Dream is increasingly out of reach for far too many people, especially younger Americans,” Trump said in a Truth Social post Wednesday.

“It is for that reason, and much more, that I am immediately taking steps to ban large institutional investors from buying more single-family homes, and I will be calling on Congress to codify it. People live in homes, not corporations,” he added. Private equity giants, real estate investment trusts and other large institutional investors have amassed sizable portfolios of single-family rental homes over the past decade. Many have argued that these investments have reduced housing supply for would-be homeowners and helped drive up prices.

This is a good news as far as affordability and the housing crisis goes as shares of BlackRock and Blackstone fell after news that large institutional investors (corporations owning at least 1,000 single-family homes) can no longer outbid families for houses. In early 2024, such investors spent over $1 billion on Atlanta homes, pricing out first-time buyers. Atlanta’s median home listing has climbed to $410,000, nearly double 2020 levels, amid growing concern over Wall Street’s dominance of housing. Hell, when even Gavin Newsom likes your idea, it's time to make it happen.

ICE Agent in Minneapolis Shoots, Kilsl Woman as Feds Say She Tried to Run Down Officer with Car

NYPost.com:

Dramatic video purportedly shows the moment an ICE agent opened fire and killed a 37-year-old woman who attempted to barrel her SUV into the officer’s path in Minneapolis Wednesday morning — as the mayor furiously demanded the agency “get the f–k out” of the city.

In the footage being widely circulated on social media from varying angles, ICE officers approach a plum-colored Honda Pilot and order the driver out of the vehicle after she blocked the path of their truck.

As one of the agents attempts to open the door, she quickly throws the car into reverse before trying to speed forward in the direction of another agent in her path.

Of course, if you're an ideologue who to blame comes down which side of the political aisle you're on--screw the victim and her loved ones. But from my knowledge, when a cop tells you that you have to get out of the car, you have to get out. That obviously didn't happen here and unfortunately Renee Nicole Good paid for her mistake with her life. Now comes the usual postering, hollering, screaming, protests and the like, facts be damned and no needs to wait for an investigation into what really happened while there's clickbait to tend to.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz Ends Reelection Bid Amid Child-Care Fraud Scandal

CBS.com:

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, a Democrat, announced Monday that he would drop his bid for reelection as governor, saying that he would not be able to give a campaign all of his attention as he works to defend Minnesota against allegations of fraud and right-wing attacks -- including from President Donald Trump.

"In September, I announced that I would run for a historic third term as Minnesota's Governor. And I have every confidence that, if I gave it my all, I would succeed in that effort," Walz wrote in a statement Monday.

"But as I reflected on this moment with my family and my team over the holidays, I came to the conclusion that I can't give a political campaign my all. Every minute I spend defending my own political interests would be a minute I can't spend defending the people of Minnesota against the criminals who prey on our generosity and the cynics who prey on our differences."

This is great news because Tim Walz really is a jackass. Remember that Kamala Harris only selected Walz (as opposed to PA Gov Josh Shapiro) for her running mate in 2024 because she didn't want a straight white male VP candidate who could overshadow her on the campaign trial, much less a running mate with any Presidential ambitions. And like the dolt that he is Walz played the part well, stating that he was there to 'code talk to white guys' so they'd be comfortable voting for Harris, agreeing to avoid the media because Kamala's handlers said so and of course, using identity politics every step of the way during the few times he was allowed to speak. But then too Walz was also really bad for Minnesota. There was the ongoing fraud scandal that he played a huge part in (and which the msm failed to do any vetting at the time), he was also a covid tyrant esp. when it came to masking and social distancing and he never took accountability for anything, esp. when it came to wasteful spending of taxpayer money. Good riddance.

Trump Bombs Venezuela, U.S. ‘Captures’ Nicolas Maduro

AlJazeera.com:

United States President Donald Trump announced on Saturday morning that his country’s forces had bombed Venezuela and captured the South American nation’s president, Nicolas Maduro, and First Lady Cilia Flores in a dramatic overnight military attack that followed months of rising tensions.

Ahead of a news conference held at his Mar-a-Lago, Florida, residence later in the day, Trump posted a photograph he said showed Maduro on board the US warship USS Iwo Jima.

The image, posted on Trump’s Truth Social account, appeared to show Maduro in a grey tracksuit with a black band covering his eyes and a water bottle in his hand. At the news conference, Trump said the US would “run the country” until a “judicious” transition of government could be made.

Well, that was the quickest regime change I’ve ever heard of, and while I’m surprised Maduro was removed so fast, I’m deeply wary of the celebration going on from the Right. After all, this intervention was sold to the public as a strike against drug cartels, yet we’ve seen little convincing proof to support that claim. Plus history gives plenty of reason for caution: from Iraq to Libya to Afghanistan, Washington has repeatedly ignored the most important question, what comes next? Because he answer is usually years of chaos and long-term instability following an invasion. So while one can only hope Venezuela and the region fare better, I’m not optimistic that a stable democracy can be built there anytime soon. Lastly, any liberal or Trump critic complaining about Trump acting without congressional approval is a hypocrite if they stayed silent when Obama and Biden bombed opposition forces without Congress. It’s also striking to see many Venezuelans dancing in the streets after Maduro (up until Trump took office labeled a “dictator” by Democrats) was captured.

Former CBS Investigative Reporter Catherine Herridge said CBS News Executives Postponed Airing Her Reports on the Contents of Hunter Biden’s Laptop

TheDailyCaller.com:

Former CBS investigative reporter Catherine Herridge said Thursday CBS News executives postponed airing her reports on the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop.

Herridge began working as an independent journalist after CBS laid her off in February 2024 while she was fighting a legal battle over whether she should be forced to disclose a source, after clashes with CBS executives at the time. Herridge said in the video posted on X that she clashed with executives over the timing of her report on the Hunter Biden laptop contents.

“When we did the story, we did it after the (2022) midterms,” Herridge said. “I argued against that because it was ready before the midterms and my training is that you should always do the story when it’s ready to go. You should not be dictated by the political cycle.”

So here's the story of a major news outlet conspiring to effect the outcome of the 2022 midterm elections and no one makes a big deal about it. While at the same time, Democrats and the Left collude to smear and destroy new Editorial Chief Bari Weiss from bringing real journalism to this dump truck of a news network.

NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani Sparks Backlash with 'Warmth of Collectivism' Line During

FOX.com:

Bishop Robert Barron, a prominent Catholic leader, slammed socialist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s inauguration line promoting the "warmth of collectivism," saying, "God’s sake, spare me."

During his inaugural address, the newly minted socialist mayor and New York’s first Muslim mayor, declared, "We will replace the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism."

The line prompted immediate backlash from many conservatives who expressed alarm at such a phrase being used by the leader of America’s biggest city. Barron, a popular podcaster and founder of "Word on Fire," took to X to say Mamdani’s declaration "took my breath away."

Well, Mamdani is a self-declared 'Democrat socialist'. That said, while the remark sparked predictable responses what with conservatives mocking the rhetoric ('Communist!'), while progressives defended it ('Hero!'), the passage 'Warmth of Collectivism' in of itself is flawed. As individualism versus collectivism is a binary choice that reflects a shallow modern political vocabulary. Instead, the classical Western idea of the common good offers a better approach, preserving individuality while promoting shared well-being.
