Far-Left Southern Poverty Law Center Charged with Defrauding Donors with Payments to Extremist Informants

APNews.com:

The Southern Poverty Law Center was indicted Tuesday on federal fraud charges alleging it improperly raised millions of dollars to secretly pay leaders of the Ku Klux Klan and other hate groups for inside information, acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said.

The Justice Department alleges the civil rights group defrauded donors by using their money to fund the very extremism it claimed to be fighting, with more than $3 million paid to informants through a now-defunct program to infiltrate white supremacist and other extremist groups. Prosecutors allege some of the money was used by extremists to carry out other crimes, but court papers did not include specific examples.

“The SPLC was not dismantling these groups. It was instead manufacturing the extremism it purports to oppose by paying sources to stoke racial hatred,” Blanche said.

The fact that the SPLC never added Antifa to their list of 'hate groups' always made them suspicious to conservatives. But with huge backers like liberal big-shots that include George Soros and George Clooney, the SPFC (which has been used by Democrat politicians as far up the ladder as Joe Biden on the campaign trail to deride and smear Republicans) spending millions to keep the narrative of 'white supremacy' as the 'greatest threat' known to man going, all the while using their loot to pay informants to infiltrate far-Right extremists groups (and promote and fund bigotry), is wild as hell.

Florida Democrat Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick Resigns From Congress Amid Corruption Investigation

Mediaite.com:

Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL) quit Congress on Tuesday, coinciding with a House Ethics panel that was weighing sanctions against the lawmaker after she was found guilty last month on 25 out of 27 ethics violations related to embezzling millions.

“This was not a fair process,” Cherfilus-McCormick complained in her resignation notice.

“The Ethics Committee refused my new attorney’s reasonable request for time to prepare my defense. By going forward with this process while a criminal indictment is pending, the Committee prevented me from defending myself.”

'This was not a fair process' SHE says after a House investigation that took more than two years to complete--more than enough time to get her defense in order and fight the charges. But now after she was found guilty of violating more than 20 House ethics rules and still facing federal charges for allegedly stealing millions of dollars in FEMA money, Cherfilus-McCormick has no choice but to resign in disgrace which saves her from the embarassment of being expelled Congress. One shining light for Cherfilus-McCormick tho: she'd be receiving a lot more scrutiny and attention from the msm for this scandal if she was a Republican and that's just s fact.

FBI Director Kash Patel Files $250 Million Defamation Lawsuit Against The Atlantic

Mediaite.com:

President Donald Trump’s FBI director, Kash Patel, filed a lawsuit against The Atlantic on Monday, demanding no less than $250 million after the magazine published an article claiming he had “alarmed colleagues with episodes of excessive drinking and unexplained absences.”

Patel’s lawyers accused The Atlantic and staff writer Sarah Fitzpatrick of publishing “a sweeping, malicious, and defamatory hit piece” against him on Friday and claimed that the allegations in the article were “false,” “obviously fabricated,” and “designed to destroy Director Patel’s reputation and drive him from office.”

After dedicating an entire page of the lawsuit to boasting about Patel’s “historic” achievements, Patel’s lawyers claimed that the FBI director was “entitled to compensatory, special, and punitive damages, in an amount not less than two hundred and fifty million dollars ($250,000,000), as well as disgorgement of all income Defendants have earned by virtue of their lies about Director Patel.”

Recalling how badly Patel wanted this job, you’d expect him to do everything possible to keep it and stay on his best behavior, but who knows. What is clear is that partisan lines are already forming. Democrats and the liberal media have been quick to condemn him, calling for his resignation and expressing confidence that his lawsuit will fail. On the other side, most, if not all Republicans appear to support Patel, hoping not only that he wins the lawsuit, but that it delivers a significant blow to a news outlet many conservatives view as biased against the Right. Ultimately, the sense is that as long as Patel survives discovery, the smear campaign against him won’t succeed, and he could come out on top.

Zohran Mamdani’s City-Run Grocery Plan Draws Pushback from Local Bodegas, Supermarkets

TheHill.com:

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s (D) plan to open a city-owned grocery store in East Harlem is drawing pushback from critics who question its feasibility and warn of its economic impact on local businesses. At a rally Sunday marking his first 100 days as mayor, the democratic socialist announced the location of the first of five city-owned grocery stores — one in each of New York City’s boroughs — that he plans to open in the next couple years.

Mamdani identified La Marqueta, a marketplace in East Harlem, as the site for Manhattan’s store, which he said he hopes to open by 2029. The sites for the other four stores have not yet been announced, but Mamdani said he hopes to open the first city-owned store in late 2027, with all five operating by the end of his first term.

In making the announcement, Mamdani took an early step toward fulfilling a key campaign promise aimed at addressing the city’s affordability crisis by offering lower-cost groceries. “When corporations control every part of the food supply chain, prices go up, basic necessities become luxuries and workers and customers both lose,” Mamdani said. “A public option allows us to intervene where the market has failed.”

Not only is this city-run grocery store bad for local grocery stores and supermarkets, but it's also a scam when you note that it won't open till 2030, will cost taxpayers $30M (quadruple what it costs to open a normal store) and will only have discounted prices for a select few foods. Mamdani also plans to remove existing subsidies from current NYC grocery stores, which will drive up the competitor's prices. But let all the Mamdani shills out there tell it...socialism works!!!

Appeals Court Halts Liberal Activist Judge Boasberg Contempt Inquiry Over Venezuelan Deportation Flights

TheHill.com:

A three-judge panel of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday halted an effort by U.S. District Court Judge James Boasberg to hold contempt hearings after the Trump administration failed to suspend flights carrying Venezuelan men to be imprisoned in El Salvador.

The administration has already said it was former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem who last March ordered flights to take 100 Venezuelan men to a notorious megaprison, despite an order from Boasberg ordering the flights grounded or turned around.

The sharply divided rulings put an end to additional fact-finding by Boasberg, who has faced calls for his impeachment by President Trump. While two Trump appointees to the bench sided with the president and chastised Boasberg for not being sufficiently clear in his ruling, an Obama appointee said the ruling would have grave consequences should an administration flout a judge’s orders in the future.

This rebuke from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit marks a real and decisive check on what conservatives have been been railing about since Trump took office again last year: judicial overreach by activist judges like James Boasberg. But more importantly it reinforces a core constitutional principle: judges can't retroactively reinterpret vague or incomplete orders to impose criminal liability. At the heart of the ruling is not ideology, but process as the court made clear that the rule of law depends on clarity, not on a judge’s evolving intent after the fact. Therefore, for those concerned about activist judging, this decision underscores the importance of separation of powers and draws a firm line between the judiciary’s role and executive authority--in other words, Boasberg needs to be impeached, like yesterday.

Catholic Nuns Sue Liberal New York State Governor Kathy Hochul Over Mandatory Pronoun and Bathroom Laws

FOXNews.com:

Catholic nuns who have spent more than a century caring for the dying poor are suing New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, saying a new state law could force them to choose between their faith and their mission or face fines, loss of licensing and even jail time. "We are consecrated religious Sisters and have one mission," Mother Marie Edward, O.P., told Fox News Digital in a statement. "It is to provide comfort and skilled care to persons dying of cancer who cannot afford nursing care. We do not take insurance or government funds or money from our patients or families. The care is totally free."

"We are supported by the goodness of our benefactors," she continued. "We do this without discriminating on the basis of race, religion, or sex. We do it because Jesus taught us that, when the least among us are sick, we should care for them, as if they were Christ himself."

Signed into law on Nov. 30, 2023, the "Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender, and people living with HIV long-term care facility residents' bill of rights" bans long-term care facilities and staff "from discriminating against any resident on the basis of a resident’s actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or HIV status," according to a press release from Hochul's office.

Yet, another example of why so many Christians in this country feel that the Democrat party is hostile to them and vote Republican instead. Indeed, for 125 years, Catholic nuns in New York have operated Rosary Hill Home, a free hospice serving poor cancer patients as an act of charity. But a state law signed by Governor Hochul requires nursing homes to follow policies on "gender identity", including pronoun use, housing based on gender identity, and access to shared spaces. The nuns rightly say these requirements conflict with their religious beliefs, though they emphasize treating all patients with dignity. As a result, they now face potential fines, loss of their license, or other penalties if they do not comply, raising the possibility that the hospice could be forced to shut down. I don't know how this will do in the lower courts, but if it gets to the Supreme Court the nuns will rightly win.

Appeals Court Says Trump White House Ballroom Construction Can Proceed

CNN.com:

A federal appeals court said Saturday that President Donald Trump can move ahead for another week with construction of a massive new White House ballroom while judges consider the project. The 2-1 order from the DC Circuit Court of Appeals is a temporary win for Trump in a protracted legal fight over whether he has the authority to build the ballroom on the site of the former East Wing without express approval from Congress.

The appeals court said work on the project can continue until at least April 17. The court sent the case back down to a federal judge who initially ruled against it, saying he needed to look closer at the White House’s argument that construction must continue for national security and safety reasons, and adding that the appeals court couldn’t scrutinize the notion on a “hurried record.”

“It remains unclear whether and to what extent the development of certain aspects of the proposed ballroom is necessary to ensure the safety and security of those below-ground national security upgrades or otherwise to ensure the safety of the White House and its occupants while the appeal proceeds,” the judges in the majority wrote.

Of course, all this ballroom drama is only happeing because it's Trump's project as plenty of past President's have done renovations on the White House without anyone making a big deal about it. Hell, even the federal arts commission recently gave Trump approval for the ballroom, which is also being funded via private donations and Trump himself (instead of taxpayers). You'd think all that alone would be enough for the Left to fall back and just let the ballroom get completed, especially now that it's halfway doem. But leave it to these activist judges working in cahoots with anti-Trump far-Left groups that hate anything to do with the President to keep getting in the way of progress, even when it ends up being good for everyone involved.

Former Staffer Says Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell, Candidate for California Governor, Sexually Assaulted Her

Politico.com:

Rep. Eric Swalwell’s campaign for governor was reeling Friday after an ex-staffer accused him of sexual assault, with multiple staffers resigning and both a prominent ally and rival candidates calling on the California Democrat to exit the race.

The exodus, which began just before the San Francisco Chronicle published a report detailing a former staffer’s claims, jolted California’s marquee race just weeks before ballots start landing in voters’ mailboxes. The former staffer told the newspaper that Swalwell had sexual encounters with her while working for him, and that he sexually assaulted her twice when she was too drunk to consent.

Top staffers departed the campaign shortly before the story published. Soon after, Rep. Jimmy Gomez said in a statement that he was stepping down from the campaign and urged Swalwell to leave the race — a stunning rebuke from a key surrogate who had helped introduce Swalwell to power players in Sacramento, where Gomez served in the state Assembly.

Put aside the hundreds of times Swalwell and his smug ass has gone on TV to personally attack and smear Donald Trump over the years, it's what he tried to do to Justice Brett Kavanaigh, when he was going through his confirmation process, that should really have conservatives thungry for a takedown here. Indeed, during Kavanaugh's 2018 Supreme Court confirmation, Swalwell strongly advocated for investigating sexual assault allegations without any evidence, stating that mounting claims suggested a pattern of guilt. He even argued that if Kavanaugh were innocent, he should welcome a full investigation, while also noting that multiple accusations made it statistically improbable for the nominee to be innocent. Well if that's the case, Swalwell by his own terms must not only drop out of the Governor's race, but he should also resign from Congress.

Trump Says He's Suspending Bombing Iran for Two Weeks

FOXNews.com:

President Donald Trump agreed to a ceasefire on Tuesday and to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for two weeks. The move came after talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who urged Trump to delay any further U.S. military action while both sides continued to negotiate.

“This will be a double sided CEASEFIRE! The reason for doing so is that we have already met and exceeded all Military objectives, and are very far along with a definitive Agreement concerning Longterm PEACE with Iran, and PEACE in the Middle East,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Trump said he received a 10-point proposal from Iran, calling it a "workable basis on which to negotiate." "Almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to between the United States and Iran, but a two week period will allow the Agreement to be finalized and consummated," he wrote.

So Trump agrees to a ceasefire contingent on Iran (amongst other things) re-opening the Strait of Hormuz. Well that's a relief, especially for those in the msm and the political pundit world who always buy into the President;s hyperbolic tendencies. Funny tho how while Pete Hesgeth and Trump get most of grief from the msm and Democrats for getting us into this war, they tend to stay away from Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who frankly speaking is the best mouthpiece within the Trump administration and whom any practical person should trust on this war not getting out of hand. Of course, Hesgeth and Trump are hated by the msm no matter what they do. But if you're an American president and messaging is not exactly your strong point, you need to make sure Rubio is out there speaking to the press and public as much as possible--especially when it comes to the possibility of a war, much less a genocide.

California Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell’s Finances Show Cash Crunch, Delayed Taxes and Large Child Care Tab

TheSacramentoBee.com:

Rep. Eric Swalwell and his wife consistently brought in an income in the top 5% of Washington, D.C., households from 2021 to 2024 but made cash-raising moves anyway: drawing down retirement accounts, delaying federal tax payments and spending heavily on child care through campaign funds, according to tax returns and campaign finance filings.

The returns show Swalwell, one of several leading candidates for California governor, and his wife, Brittany Swalwell, took home an average income of more than $444,000 during the period. That income would place them among the top 5% of households in Washington, D.C., where the couple owns a $1.2 million home; Swalwell also rents a room in a Livermore house owned by another family, The Sacramento Bee reported last month.

A portion of that income came from the nearly $145,000 the couple withdrew from their retirement accounts from 2020 to 2022. Eric Swalwell also zeroed out withholdings on his congressional salary in 2023 and withheld just $2,580 the year before, effectively delaying payment of his federal taxes in a move that incurred penalties.

Eric Swalwell is a smug, hypocritical, narcissitic pos, who barely shows up for work, but gets love from the MSM because he loves to attack Trump on a daily basis. Now years after doing nothing as Congressman in California, he wants to be governor of a state him and his fellow Democrat pols have turned into an utter mess. Indeed, Swalwell is such an a-hole that given a chance the other day to hold Gavin Newsom accountable for at least some of the problmes going on in Cali...he passed. But now Swalwell has the FBI going after him and he's big mad about it, so much so that he's making ridiculous threats ti sue the FBI...oh my how the tables have turned.
